1. Service Description

provides a searchable database of U.S. private foundations and their grant history, derived from publicly available IRS Form 990 filings. We help nonprofits research potential funders. We also provide grant-writing services to nonprofit partners under a separate written agreement. Section 12 covers text messages with those partners.

2. Accounts

You may browse limited results without an account. To access full features, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

  • Free Plan: Limited search results, basic features, no cost.
  • Pro Plan: $49/month (first week $1) or $299/year, unlimited results, full features.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
  • Cancel anytime from your account page—no cancellation fees.
  • We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on Pro subscriptions.

4. Refunds

If you're unsatisfied with Pro within the first 30 days, contact us at jake@grantledger.net for a full refund. After 30 days, refunds are at our discretion.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk download our data
  • Resell or redistribute our data commercially
  • Use automated tools to access the service excessively
  • Attempt to circumvent payment or access restrictions
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose

6. Data Accuracy

Our data comes from IRS Form 990 filings, which are self-reported by foundations. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all information is complete or error-free. Always verify critical information directly with foundations before making decisions.

7. Intellectual Property

The name, logo, website design, and proprietary features (like Openness Scores) are our property. The underlying 990 data is public record. You may use data you access for your own nonprofit research purposes.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that our service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific needs. We are not responsible for grant application outcomes.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify you of significant changes by email.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may cancel your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately.

12. Text Messages (SMS)

Program. GrantLedger texts with staff of nonprofit organizations that have signed a services agreement with us, from our team line, +1 (844) 595-0752. Texts are about the organization's grant work: requests for documents and information, deadline reminders, application status updates, scheduling, and replies to messages. We do not send marketing or promotional texts, and we do not text prospects.

When texts start. We have not started sending texts to partners yet. We will start only after the mobile carriers approve our text line. Until then, the only texts we send are the automatic replies to STOP, HELP and START.

Who sends texts. Jake, Nick and Alexander of our team send texts. Some texts are drafted with help from an AI assistant, and a team member approves each of those texts before it is sent. Except for the automatic replies to STOP, HELP and START, no text is sent automatically.

Consent. We text only people who have agreed to receive texts at their own mobile number. A person agrees by ticking the optional, unticked text-message box on the signature page of a services agreement created on or after October 20, 2026, or by completing our text consent form (grantledger.net/text-consent). Agreeing to texts is optional and is not a condition of any agreement, purchase or service.

Frequency and cost. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. GrantLedger does not charge for texts.

STOP, START and HELP. Reply STOP to any text to stop. We reply: "You are unsubscribed from GrantLedger texts. No more messages will be sent. Reply START to resubscribe." Reply START to receive texts again. We reply: "You are resubscribed to GrantLedger texts. Reply STOP to end." Reply HELP for help. We reply: "GrantLedger team line for partner grant work. Help: support@grant-ledger.com or grantledger.net. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out." You can also ask us to stop by email, and we honor each request within 10 business days. Texts stop when the organization's agreement with us ends.

Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. If you text our team line, we receive and store your message as described in the Text Messages section of our Privacy Policy (/privacy#sms).

Sensitive information. Do not text us passwords, Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, or information about the people your organization serves.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
